Rich, fudgy, bite-sized brownies coated in smooth dairy-free chocolate. Vegan and allergy-friendly.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dairy-free chocolate chips (for batter)
- 1/2 cup neutral oil (sunflower or canola)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup dairy-free milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 8 oz dairy-free chocolate (for dipping)
- Optional: flaky sea salt for garnish
Instructions
- 1Preheat and prep
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- 3Make the wet mixture
Melt the chocolate chips in a heat-safe bowl over simmering water or in 20-second microwave bursts. Stir in the oil, brown sugar, applesauce, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- 4Combine and bake
Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Spread into the prepared pan and bake for 18-20 minutes, until set but still slightly soft in the center. Cool completely.
- 5Cut into bites
Cut the cooled brownies into bite-sized squares or rounds.
- 6Dip in chocolate
Melt the dipping chocolate and coat each brownie bite, placing them on parchment paper to set. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
- 7Chill and store
Chill until the chocolate is set. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer.
